Mozart's popularity in Vienna was at its peak in 1784 when he premiered his Piano Concerto No. 17 with its final movement brimming with the excitement of one of his comic opera finales. Across the border, Brahms composed his enchanting and beautiful Serenade No. 1 under the spell of Mozart's own serenades.
